We're now at Yellow Alert status in central southern England ahead of Storm Darragh this weekend.
💨 The weather forecast
Storm Darragh is forecast to bring a period of sustained high winds to our central southern England network area on the weekend of 7-8 December. We’re expecting gusts of around 60mph across the region from midday on Saturday. The winds will remain at this strength ‘til late on Saturday evening, with 50mph gusts expected overnight on Saturday and during most of Sunday.
The Met Office has issued a number of weather warnings in light of this period of unsettled weather. We'll be closely assessing our own forecasts and those from the Met Office during this period.
👷 How SSEN is responding
We’ve been monitoring this storm as it’s developed over the past few days, and we’ve been planning our response accordingly.
Planned works which were due to take place over the weekend will now be postponed, to free up more teams to respond to any faults. Additional engineers and tree cutters will be brought in to further strengthen our response.
Ahead of the storm arriving, teams in our Customer Contact Centres are fully prepared to take customers’ calls and queries. We’ll be getting in touch with our most vulnerable customers, including 750,000 people on our Priority Service Register ahead of the weekend to offer them help and advice.
We’ll continue to watch this period of weather closely as it develops, and we’ll issue further updates depending on the forecast.  
📞 Help and advice
If you see any damage to our equipment, please stay back, don’t touch it and instead report it to us directly by calling 105, or via our Power Track website, and engineers will investigate as soon as possible.
Customers are also being encouraged to be prepared for the possibility of disruption to supplies by:
- Saving the emergency power cut number - '105' - to your phone to report any loss of supply or damage to the electricity network
- Visiting our Power Track Website to give you details of power cuts and restoration times. You can also report power cuts and network damage through Power Track.
- Visiting the "Preparing for a power cut" section on our website, where there is a wealth of advice and information, or to chat live to one of our advisors via the Webchat service
Customers are also eligible for our Priority Services Register (PSR) if they:
- Are deaf or hard of hearing
- Have a disability
- Live with children under five
- Are blind or partially-sighted
- Have a chronic illness
- Use medical equipment/aids reliant on electricity
- Are over 60.
