We’re at Weather Warning status in the north of Scotland ahead of a period of forecast stormy weather this weekend.
💨 The weather forecast
Our weather forecast currently shows high winds expected to sweep across much of Scotland over the coming weekend. On Saturday, wind gusts of between 75 – 80 mph are expected across the west coast and the north of Scotland, reaching their peak in the late afternoon. Speeds are then forecast to drop slightly on Sunday, but there’s still the expectation gusts could reach up to 65mph across the north of Scotland over the course of the day.
The Met Office has now issued its own Yellow Warnings for wind over the weekend.
👷 How SSEN is responding
We’re activating our well-rehearsed contingency plans and bringing in additional teams to deal with any damage to the network and subsequent faults, which may interrupt customers’ power supplies.
In addition, we’ll be contacting our more vulnerable customers ahead of these high winds arriving, to offer them help and advice.
We’ll continue to monitor the weather forecast closely and will issue further updates depending on the forecast.
