The net zero innovation and leadership that's at the very heart of everything we do here at Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks has been recognised at this year's Utility Week awards.

Our LENZA (Local Energy Net Zero Accelerator) Tool came out on top in the Net Zero Engagement category. LENZA is transforming local planning in our communities, by empowering decision makers to make the best-informed, most-efficient decisions on new net zero development.

Meanwhile, the work we're doing to put the needs of the most vulnerable among us at the very heart of future energy system planning was also recognised. Our Vulnerability Future Energy Scenarios (VFES) triumphed in the Unlocking Data category.

Our team who were at the awards also collected the inaugural Skills & Training Award on behalf of SSE Group for the 'Home Safe' programme.

We'd like to congratulate all our team members whose creativity, tenacity and sheer hard work has made this success possible, and we're also grateful to our project partners for their support.

Andrew Roper, SSEN Distribution’s Director of Distribution System Operations, says:

“SSEN’s work towards net zero, and our innovative ethos, are both motivated by a desire to do the very best by all of our 4 million customers, whatever their circumstances, and wherever they live in our licence areas.

“Our Vulnerability Future Energy Scenarios and the LENZA tool are two standout examples of great things we’re doing to deliver on our environmental and societal goals, so it’s particularly special to see them recognised in this way by the Utility Week Award judges.

“I’d like to thank everyone within SSEN whose hard work and dedication has driven these projects forward.  And I’d also express my gratitude to all our project partners, whose support and dedication has been instrumental in securing the recognition VFES and LENZA have now received.

“This success will motivate us to keep on working tirelessly to deliver net zero, and ensure we provide the fairest, most efficient services for our customers.”
