Following two recent successful community events in Ridgeway, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is encouraging customers to come along and meet the team at the Melksham Carers’ Event, where they can find out more about the free additional services providing help during power cuts and with energy saving.

Throughout the year, SSEN offers customers additional services to help vulnerable customers during power cuts through its Priority Services Register (PSR) and can help customers access money and energy saving advice through YES Energy Solutions.

In the last couple of weeks, residents attending clubs in Longparish and Melksham have been able to discuss the free services available to them with SSEN’s Customer and Community Advisors for the area, Mel Grace and Helen Robertson.

Helen explains more:

“Many local villages and towns hold regular clubs for their residents and we’ve been attending them to give people information they need on how we can help them if they experience an interruption to their power or if they’re worried about energy bills and how they can save money.

“There’s no pressure on anyone to sign up for the services on the day, as we like to supply all the information that can be shared with family and friends before any decisions are made.”

Mel added:

“Both PSR and YES are completely free of charge and beneficial to so many of our customers who may become vulnerable during a power cut. In addition to the free services we offer, we’re also making sure our customers know how to access information and to report issues through the free to call 105 number and SSEN’s Power Track app.

“By visiting local clubs, resilience groups and organisations now to cascade this information, we can help people prepare for winter and bring them peace of mind that we are here to help.”

Customers in Melksham and the surrounding areas are being encouraged to find out how PSR and YES Energy Solutions can help them, their friends, family and loved ones, by coming along to the Melksham Carers Event where they can meet our Customer and Community Advisors and chat about all of the free services available through SSEN.

The event will be held at the Melksham Community Campus and Assembly Hall from 4pm to 7pm on Friday 9 June.
