The works, which are scheduled to last until 2 October, have been agreed after consultation with the local Highways department, and will see teams begin on the northbound carriageway of Fareham Road before moving on to the southbound side later in the week.
For the safety of road-users and staff on site, temporary traffic management will be in place until this northbound phase of the works is completed. After that, when teams start work on the southbound carriageway, there is no requirement for traffic management.
Simon King, SSEN Distribution’s Project Manager, explains more:
“As part of our ongoing maintenance and inspection programme we’ve identified that this section of underground cable requires repair work to be carried out, and so by doing this work now, we’re making sure that the local network is in the best possible condition and minimising the risk of any faults occurring.
“We’d like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience that these essential works may cause, and thank everyone for their patience as our teams go about their tasks. We’ll do all we can to complete the works as safely and as quickly as possible, and where we require temporary traffic management, we will have the lights staffed during peak hours to assist with the flow of traffic.”
Advance notice of these works has been signposted to give road-users as much notice as possible.
