As forecast, Storm Barra brought strong winds, heavy rain and snow to much of the north of Scotland during Tuesday 7 December and overnight into Wednesday 8 December.

Wind gusts of over 60mph were recorded in coastal locations, with over55mphrecorded inland in Aberdeenshire. Over the course of the weather event, SSEN Engineers restored power to more than 9,000 customers, reconnecting the final customers at 9pm yesterday.

SSEN is no longer on Yellow Alert and has returned to business as usual (BAU) status. Its teams will now continue to carry out repairs in areas significantly affected by Storm Arwen, such as Aberdeenshire, to bring the network back to full operational health.

Mark Rough, SSEN's Director of Customer Operations, said:

"Dealing with another named storm in quick succession brought challenges, but our network and our teams responded very well to Storm Barra, restoring the majority of customers within two hours and completing all final repairs by yesterday evening. I'd like to thank any customers impacted for their patience as we worked to restore supplies.

"With no further weather alerts in place, we have now returned to business as usual operation for the licence area, but remain vigilant as we continue to carry out remedial repairs on our network."
