Residents and business owners in Wrecclesham are being notified of minor road works as Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) upgrades part of its infrastructure in the area.
To improve the durability and resilience of power supplies, SSEN's engineers will work to replace two sections of underground cable and a link box between Monday 18 February and Friday 22 February 2019.
For the duration of the works, temporary traffic lights will be located on The Street (A325) in Wrecclesham, Surrey for a 100m stretch near the Bear and Ragged Staff public house. These temporary lights are to ensure the safety of pedestrians, road users and engineers working on the upgrade and will be staffed at peak hours to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
There are no planned supply interruptions in relation to this project, but customers are reminded of SSEN's free Priority Services Register as, for some, being without electricity - even for a short time - can be a distressing and difficult situation. SSEN offers extra help and support to ensure its customers are looked after.
Customers can qualify for SSEN's Priority Services Register if they:
- Are dependent on electricity for home medical care
- Have a chronic illness or short term medical condition
- Are disabled
- Have special communication needs
- Have children under the age of five
- Are over the age of 60
By registering for SSEN's PSR, customers will be proactively contacted to warn them of potential bad weather to help them prepare and to offer extra support where required.SSEN's teams will also keep in close and regular contact with its PSR customers during power cuts to check they are getting the help they need.
