Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has restored power to over 22,500 customers in its central southern England network region following the impact of Storm Emma and recent severe weather conditions. The network operator is now operating as normal for its central southern England and north of Scotland regions.

Craig Gilroy, Director of Customer Operations, said:

"Our network stood up well to severe conditions including high winds and significant snowfall affecting our network area in central southern England. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their patience as our teams battled very challenging conditions."

"Significant snow drifts and blocked roads led to difficulties accessing some faults, but I'd like to thank the teams, with the assistance of our resilience partners, for their hard work and persistence to get power safely restored to our customers as quickly as possible."

SSEN would like to reassure its customers that it continues to monitor weather conditions and is well prepared and resourced to respond should customers experience further faults over the next few days. SSEN encourages its customers to be prepared and save the emergency power cut number, 105, to their phones so they can call SSEN's teams if they have any further issues.

Prior to the arrival of Storm Emma, SSEN enacted its well-established resilience plans, which included increasing resource levels, moving people and equipment to strategic locations and making proactive contact with customers on its Priority Services Register.
