Residents and business owners between Reading and Aborfield are being invited to attend a community event to find out more about Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks' (SSEN) project to boost the resilience of the area's power supply.
The £2 million programme of works sees the final phase of the upgrade to existing 33kV overhead cables and undergrounding of a further section of the original network, helping to make the local electricity supply more robust and ensuring it meets the increasing demands of local homes and businesses.
To allow those who live and work in the area to discuss the works and what they'll mean for the town, a community event is being held on Tuesday 4 September in The Oakwood Centre in Woodley.
SSEN's Project Manager, Miles Crossley said: "At SSEN, we appreciate that sometimes the essential works we carry out can cause a temporary inconvenience, so we want to speak directly to the community and give everyone who lives or work locally the chance to ask us about the project, raising any concerns or questions they might have."
"We want to explain fully how these works are being carried out and to talk through any possible disruption that might occur as a result of this programme of improvement."
"This community event will also give us the chance to take on board any concerns that people might have and give everyone the opportunity to meet the team, chat through the project and find out what it means for Reading and the surrounding area."
All are welcome at the SSEN open community event which will be held at:
