We're moving to Weather Warning status in the north of Scotland ahead of strong winds forecast for Sunday 20 and Monday 21 October.

💨 The weather forecast

SSEN’s current weather model shows high winds forecast for much of the north of Scotland network area from the early hours of Sunday. The west coast of mainland Scotland, Skye and the Western Isles can expect winds of 50-55mph. These will move through the Central Belt, and into Perth, Dundee, and parts of Aberdeenshire. Sustained strong winds will also affect Orkney and Shetland.  Gusts of 70mph are possible in more exposed locations. The Met Office has a Yellow Warning in place for strong winds from 0300 on Sunday to noon on Monday.

👷 How SSEN is responding

We’re activating well-rehearsed plans, with teams in place to deal with network faults and to fix any damage. We’re fully prepared to take customers’ calls and queries, and we're sending warning messages to customers in the areas where the strongest winds are forecast.

We’ll continue to watch this period of weather closely as it develops, and we’ll issue further updates depending on the forecast.
