Our multi-million pound launched in Spring 2023 and is now entering its final phase with the project set for completion in Summer 2025. This essential investment will boost the power supply to future-proof the electricity network for homes and businesses in the Alton and Bordon area of East Hampshire.
We’re investing £10.6million to boost Bordon’s electricity network
The team have nearly completed phase 1 of the programme, which began in May 2023, to dig trenches and lay the cable ducts. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we carry out these essential works.
Where is the team working?
The team is now off the road until the New Year.
In January 2025, the team are moving to phase 2 of the programme where they will connect the ducts and pull the cable through. There are no planned supply interruptions (PSIs) scheduled to take place during the works.
Pedestrian access is always maintained. If you are concerned about accessing your property during this time, please contact us using the details below.
See our interactive map below for details on the full programme of work and to see where our team is working.
Join us at our community events
As part of our commitment to keeping the local community informed, we have held seven community drop-in events to date.
Our next community event will be held early in the New Year. Details of where and when the drop-in event is taking place will be confirmed soon.
Where is the team going next?
The construction programme is still under discussion and not yet finalised. We are currently working closely with Hampshire County Council, the Local Highway Authority (Trafford Highways), to confirm the necessary approvals, permits and project coordination. Until these details are confirmed and dates approved, we are unable to communicate a definitive update. By ensuring that information is accurate and confirmed before communicating, we aim to minimise disruption and provide clarity at the appropriate stage.
This means that details of the traffic management is also being finalised. It is anticipated that most of the joint bay and cable pull work will take place under temporary traffic lights, but details will be shared once approved by the Local Highway Authority (Trafford Highways).
Horizontal Directional Drilling on Caker Lane, near the Golf Course, is also required for approximately three weeks to safely avoid the ESSO pipeline. Due to the sensitive nature of the pipeline, this will require a road closure to keep both our team and potential road users safe. A closure will also support the need to mitigate the risk of utility strikes.
Once the programme is confirmed, we will advertise it on this page of the website.
